AIHce 2004 Atlanta Report -Julie Berg, President
A few weeks ago, Environmental Research Technologies (ERT) exhibited at the 2004 American Industrial Hygiene Conference and Expo in Atlanta, Georgia. The estimated attendance at this event was over 8,000 and the crowd was full of industrial hygienists actively pursuing excellence in the indoor air quality arena.

As one of many laboratories exhibiting at AIHce, ERT enjoyed visiting with IAQ professionals from all over the world. Many companies were present exhibiting new technology in the IAQ arena, which was interesting to learn about.

Industrial Hygienists who visited our booth truly had a love/hate relationship with IAQ. Many said they currently handled quite a bit of IAQ problems in their job, while others proclaimed that they stayed as far away from IAQ work as they possibly could.

Many of the people we spoke with were enthusiastic about the new science and technology being introduced to the field, while others were doubtful that anything beyond simple tape lift technique and air sampling was necessary. Even further, many still believe that sampling is not a necessity and sample as little as possible.
